They say in life the only thing constant is change. So with much love I wanted to tell you about a change that is going to happen in our life. Kathy and I have decided to retire from our jobs for the Diocese of Pittsburgh and move south. As of January 1st 2022 we will be living and working a “little bit” in Wilmington, NC. This move has been under consideration by us this past year. First we had to make sure it was okay with our doctors and at this time we are in good health. So all our doctors said we could move. Next we have always told our kids since they were teenagers that once they were all setup in their own lives we were going to move south.
Why Wilmington, NC? Over the past 4 years we have been going to see Kathy’s sister in Leland, NC for a week’s vacation and we loved it there. We will be located 20 minutes from her sister, 15 minutes from the beach and 15 minutes from the church I will be deacon at which is St. Marks Roman Catholic Church. I have asked Bishop Zubik for permission to go to the Diocese of Raleigh, in which I will have faculties there. So I will continue my diaconal calling in Wilmington.
Where do I begin to tell you how much you all mean to Kathy & I? You have seen us raise our family here. All of our children had their foundational sacraments here. You all prayed for me through diaconal formation until ordination. You all prayed for Kathy & I as we battled cancer. Your constant care and concern through checking in on us after church. Since we came here 39 years ago this parish community has always been our home. We will keep you in our prayers and we ask you to do the same. So, we say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the love you have shown us. May God bless you all.
